Wild Columbine, Aquilegia canadensis is a beautiful spring flowering perennial. It has red bell-shaped flowers with yellow centers that provide nectar in the early spring for hummingbirds and pollinating insects. The flowers are followed by capsules containing small dark seeds that are fed on by finches and buntings. It is the larval host for the Columbine duskywing. Wild Columbine has attractive delicate looking leaves that are blueish green and divided into three rounded lobes.
