Common Sneeezeweed, Helenium autumnale is a perennial flower with bright yellow fan shaped petals and yellow green center ball. The name comes from a traditional use where the plant was dried and crushed into a powder to induce sneezing and clear the body of ailments. It is pollinated by insects and not the wind, therefore it has large sticky pollen that does not cause sneezing or hayfever.
