Switch Grass, Panicum virgatum is a common prairie grass native to much of North America. Is a warm season grass that grows to 2m in height. Large airy seed head that can give a cloud like appearance above the plant. Green leaves turn bright yellow in the fall.

Wildlife Benefits: Food source, nesting habitat, larval host, cover

Uses: Ornamental grass, pollinator gardens, meadow/prairie plantings,  erosion control, pasture

Conditions: Full sun to part shade, dry to moist, sandy to clay, alkaline to neutral, drought tolerant, deer resistant.
